We had our most important appointment to date today. And our little baby is progressing right along. It (I like to call it "him") is 2 cm long with a projected due date of January 21, 2009. This makes us currently 8 weeks and 6 days pregnant. When we were watching the ultrasound on the screen, we could see "his" heart beating fast. 174 beats per minute fast! The nurse said that that heart rate is very good for a baby at this age. She also noted that having the yolk sac (above the head in the photo) proves another very important step. Many women have miscarriages because the yolk sac doesn't form, thus the baby is not able to get the nutrients it needs. So, we are doing very well and look forward to our next appointment on July 15th at 4:00pm.
